Crochet and Beaded Wrapped Bracelet/Necklace through Kirkwood Community College

Prerequisites: No experience needed.
Use a crochet hook to make slip knots for this versatile piece of jewelry. It can be worn as three different styles of necklace or wrapped around your wrist multiple times. The beads are Chinese jade in three sizes on walnut brown waxed linen. Make it a bit longer and you have a cute belt for a summer dress. No experience needed.
Registration is through Kirkwood Community College. Register at:
www.kirkwood.edu and go to Continuing Education and then search for Beadology Iowa under the instructor search. On site registrations will be taken if registration through Kirkwood meets minimum requirements of two participants.

In this kid-friendly class, that is also great for adults, learn how to string a bracelet using elastic. A great Mother’s Day and everyday gift for yourself or a favorite Mom in your life.
Learn to use a new CzechMates 2-hole bead shape, the crescent. Weave Czech pressed glass and Toho 11/0 seed beads to create a two-sided domed beaded bead. You will make two separate pieces and then sew them together. Each side can be a different color, making your bead reversible.
Peyote stitch is a basic and incredibly versatile seed bead weaving technique. Beading magazines have many projects that utilize peyote stitch. This workshop will share flat and tubular peyote, even count, using Toho and Delica seed beads. Learn when to use each stitch and walk away with samples of each.
This class is a prerequisite for Color Gradient and Raised Triangle Earrings—both scheduled in April.
