Help us celebrate our 12th annual bead challenge. This is a wonderful way to highlight our talented customers… like you!
The bead challenge starts on Friday, Sept. 8, at 10am and ends on Friday, Oct. 13 at 6pm. Make anything you want from the kit-jewelry, sculpture, collage work, quilts, embroidery, a knitting project–anything. You must use at least one of each of the elements in the kit to qualify for the challenge. You may add as many or as much of other materials as you desire. Those turning in qualifying finished work will be included in a one-week exhibit starting October 20 with their name and name of their work prominently displayed as well as being featured on the Bead Challenge page on our web site. Qualifying artists will have their name in the hopper that will be pulled randomly to win gift certificates and other goodies. Please call the store at 319-338-1566 if you have questions about any of this information.

Blue Gray Side Drilled Freshwater Potato Pearls

Potatoes, when side-drilled, are skinnier on the strand. They’re an interesting take on a more common shape. They’re a blueish gray, 16″ strand, and ~3mm x ~4mm.


Buddha Magnetic Glue In Clasp

Copper Buddha head measuring 2″ long with slits for gluing flat projects up to 3/8″ wide. The magnets are strong, fitting into grooves that hold the sides together tightly. Watch the video to see it in action.

Byzantine Bracelet Kit

Learn the basics of byzantine chain maille to make a bracelet. Chain maille is a technique of taking individual open jump rings and putting them together to form a mesh or chain. Proper tool handling and opening and closing of rings is emphasized. The rings are anodized aluminum and the clasp is a plated snap clasp.

Make a Cubed Right Angle Weave beaded bead. Add an Italian twisted glass dangle, some bead aligners and spacers to make a lovely dangly earring.

CRAW Horseshow Dangle with Pearl Kit

Using varied sizes of Toho seed beads, make a horseshoe shape using cubed right angle weave and decreasing bead sizes to create the curve. Insert freshwater pearl dangles in the negative space and another on the bottom, and you have created an unusual lightweight earring with high impact.

Four Arches Earrings Kit
