Campers will design their own patterns out of perler beads and bring their creation to life using the peyote stitch and a big eye needle. Make a second mug rug from glass beads. This is a great introduction to wirework. Two skills are learned and practiced—making a closed wrapped loop and making this loop into another closed loop. This set of skills allows you to make secure earrings, pendants, and chains. You will make earrings from Czech pressed glass, stone, fresh water pearls, and Swarovski crystals. No previous experience is necessary.
This class serves as the pre-requisite for many Beadology Iowa classes.

Make Glass Beads: Intro to Lampworking through Kirkwood Community College

This class will teach you the art of lampworking, a technique of using a torch and melting glass rods to create various shapes. Safety and appropriate equipment handling are emphasized. Your beads will need to stay in a kiln overnight to be annealed. No previous experience needed.
NOTE: Participants must be at least 15 years old.

This star pattern component can be used as earrings or a pendant, beaded together for a bracelet, and hung from a window or tree as an ornament. Cupped Copper Earrings through Kirkwood Community College

Participants will learn to stamp and dap copper disks into earrings of their design. Some may choose to keep their copper bright or oxidize it for a different look.
