Students will learn or review spiral herringbone and make a lariat. A slide to connect two sides of the lariat will be made with Delicas with peyote stitch. The slide has to be just the right tension around the lariat—not too loose or it will slip, and not too tight or it won’t slide.

Put your flat even count peyote stitch skills to the test. Use a background of Delicas and 3 sizes of Toho round seed beads to create a repeating pattern that undulates beautifully. The focus of this class will be about following a pattern and pulling tight to synch down when decreasing. Participants will likely not finish this project and the beaded toggle is not part of the class, although the kit will have enough beads in it to make one.

The pattern comes from Anna Elizabeth Draeger‘s book Jewelry Designs with Czechmates Beads and is taught with permission from the publisher. This book is available at the store.

In this class you will learn the difference between pyramidal RAW (PRAW) and cubic RAW (CRAW). This pendant uses several principles – PRAW, using multiple bead sizes in CRAW, and embellishing with the new Toho demi-round beads. Foldforming is a great technique of metal working to create simple or elaborate three-dimensional forms.This process is done by repeatedly annealing, forging, folding and unfolding a piece of metal. It is a wonderful design element and technique to create organic lines and shapes in metal. Participants will use sheet copper to create their pieces.
