Foldforming is a great technique of metal working to create simple or elaborate three-dimensional forms.This process is done by repeatedly annealing, forging, folding and unfolding a piece of metal. It is a wonderful design element and technique to create organic lines and shapes in metal. Participants will use sheet copper to create their pieces.

Use clear solid boro glass rods to create marbles. The first will be a swirl marble, to perfect the technique used in the intro class. Then move on to a vortex design. Participants will make multiple marbles.

Registration is $120 and includes all materials, instruction, use of tools, and supplies.

Hollow beads are a challenge as you need heat to melt the glass, yet too much heat contracts the glass and you lose the hollow nature of your bead. Learn tips and tricks to making hollow beads. Try making a bead inside your hollow bead.

Learn to layer effetre glass and make floral images under a clear encasing. Students will review making a solid core bead, making your own stringers, and making flowers with dots, stringers, plunging, and twisting. The final step will be to encase this embellished bead with clear glass. The result is a bouquet under glass.

Using silver and copper wire, add Effetre glass to the bottom, and you have a fancy, handmade, glass headpin. Take this technique in whatever direction you please by adding embellishments or encasement. Instructor: Karen Kubby
