Peyote stitch is a basic and incredibly versatile seed bead weaving technique. Beading books and on-line resources have many projects that utilize peyote stitch. This workshop will share flat and tubular peyote, even count, using Toho seed beads. Learn when to use each stitch and walk away with samples of each.
This class is a prerequisite for many Beadology Iowa classes, including Fancy Barbell Beaded Toggle later on March 12.

RAW Rubber Gasket Necklace

Use flat right angle weave (RAW), then zip it up around a rubber gasket, sew up the gasket to create an figure eight, and embellish it to create this contemporary necklace with glass beads and rubber.Add a RAW bead on each side of the necklace and you are ready to wear.

Use your peyote skills to learn diagonal peyote with Delica seed beads. Embellish your leaves with Toho round seed beads. These leaves are wonderful as a pendant, earrings, or a branch full of them cascading down a lariat. Modifications to make them thinner, wider, and longer will be discussed.

Saturn Beaded Bead

Prerequisites: Tublular Peyote Stitch--call for a private tutorial.
Use peyote stitch to cover a wooden bead. Learn to decrease with peyote stitch by using different bead sizes and by reducing the number of beads in each row. Embellish around the equator of bead to form the “Saturn” rings. These beads make wonderful focal pieces for a necklace and a smaller version is great for earrings.

Learn to solder sterling wire together to make a frame with a soldered ring in the middle from which to dangle Czech pressed glass beads. You end up with a lovely pair of earrings. These skills give you the basis for endless variations for the frame shape and what you put inside your frame.

This workshop involves the fundamentals of soldering. Learn and hone a variety of soldering skills—connecting an open jump ring, adding a ring to another piece, and more. Practice both sweat and spot soldering. Leave with a variety of samples and a new set of skills.
