Join first time guest instructor Cindy Johnson for an innovative kumihimo project. With a foam disk, use 22-gauge wire and 2mm leather to make a flat braid. Learn to finish it with bead caps and a toggle clasp.
A round or square kumihimo disk is the tool needed.

Learn how to manipulate solid borosilicate glass. Participants will make a variety of shapes that create glass skills of pushing, pulling, adding color, and making a bail. Shapes worked on in class include a pawn, basic marble, icicle pendant, and a mushroom pendant.
This class serves as the prerequisite for other Boro classes.

Woven Ring with Stone

Learn to create a woven wire bail to secure a stone in place. Then weave a band to size and connect your stone. Each ring is one of a kind.
Kumihimo Bracelet with Pinch Beads through Kirkwood

Learn how to create a classic round braid on a kumihimo foam disk using pinch beads. The result is beautiful. This bracelet ends with bead caps and a lobster or spring ring. No experience needed.
$35 to Kirkwood for instructor fee/$35 materials fee if you bring your own tools/$55 if you need tools supplied.
Tools needed are a kumihimo disk and 8 weighted bobbins.

Make Glass Beads–Intro to Lampworking

This class will teach you the art of lampworking, a technique of using a torch and melting glass rods to create various shapes. Safety and appropriate equipment handling are emphasized. Your beads will need to stay in a kiln overnight to be annealed.
NOTE: Participants must be at least 15 years old.
This class serves as a prerequisite for next steps lampworking classes.
Make 2 Bracelets: Intro to Stringing

Stringing beads is a fundamental jewelry making skill. This class places a focus on aesthetics, functionality, and security. You will make two bracelets using Czech Republic pressed glass beads and sterling silver spacers. One bracelet will be made strung on nylon and the second on flexible wire. Both bracelets will be beautiful and secure.
This is a family and kid friendly class.
Wire Wrapped Earring with Dangles

Learn to wrap and secure a focal bead to create the body of an earring. Create loops for smaller dangles to hang from the bottom. This technique can be made smaller for a smaller set of earrings, or larger and/or longer for a dramatic pair.

Textured Two-drop Peyote Bracelet

Two-drop peyote stitch is an off-loom weaving technique that moves very fast, as you place two beads at a time. This bracelet is embellished as it is woven. The embellishment creates texture and pops up a bit as it hugs the curve of your wrist. Add a special bead for a clasp.
New Class! Pysanka: Ukrainian-style Egg Dyeing

Join new guest instructor Harper Folsom. Learn a Ukrainian egg dyeing technique, called Pysanka. This technique uses multiple colors of dye, done in layers with wax resist, to create detailed designs. Up to three eggs per person will be made.
The eggs need to be varnished and emptied after the dyeing process is complete. This will be done by the instructor. Participants can pick up their work starting on Sat. Oct. 25.
Soldering Sampler

Use your peyote skills to learn diagonal peyote with Delica seed beads. Embellish your leaf with Toho round seed beads. These leaves are wonderful as a pendant, earrings, or a branch full of them cascading down a lariat. Modifications to make them thinner, wider, and longer will be discussed.
