Use and expand your brick stitch skills to make a pictorial swallow. Learn to increase and decrease at the beginning and end of a row. This will step up your brick stitch game. A lovely pair of earrings will be the result.

Learn how to manipulate solid borosilicate glass. Participants will make a variety of shapes that create glass skills of pushing, pulling, adding color, and making a bail. Shapes worked on in class include a pawn, basic marble, icicle pendant, and a mushroom pendant.
This class serves as the prerequisite for other Boro classes.

Learn how to create a classic round braid on a kumihimo foam disk (or bring your own marudai) using pinch beads. The result is beautiful. This bracelet ends bead caps and a lobster or spring ring. No experience needed. Instructor: Victor Schmidt.

Tree of Life Pendant

Make 2 Bracelets: Intro to Stringing through Kirkwood Community College

This class places a focus on professional stringing and design techniques. You will make two bracelets using Czech Republic glass beads and sterling silver. Two different stringing strategies will be taught: nylon finished with bead tips and flexible wire finished with crimp beads. Both bracelets will be secure and beautiful.
Registration is through Kirkwood Community College. Register at: kirkwood and go to Continuing Education and then search for Beadology Iowa under instructor in the advanced search. On site registrations will be taken if registration through Kirkwood meets minimum requirements of two participants.

Make Glass Beads: Intro to Lampworking through Kirkwood Community College

This class will teach you the art of lampworking, a technique of using a torch and melting glass rods to create various shapes. Safety and appropriate equipment handling are emphasized. Your beads will need to stay in a kiln overnight to be annealed. No previous experience needed.
NOTE: Participants must be at least 15 years old.

Using stone beads, create CRAW squares and tubes. Embellish your work with Swarovski crystals. Stack these components on a headpin in opposite ways to create earrings that are asymmetrical and perfectly balanced.
