The pendant in this Kumihimo necklace by Laurel Kubby hardly looks like glass. The warm tones, the matte nature of the color, the texture, and the screen embedded in the glass makes for a very unique feature. This necklace is made from hand-dyed cord and is 17″ long.
The beads in the center are made from water buffalo horn and are very light weight. The back part of the necklace is a kumihimo strap with a matching beaded toggle. Th necklace is 24″ long.
The wirework for this piece was done by Zanetta Hoehle of Tumbled Wire Designs. She is a Beadology Iowa guest instructor for wirework classes. It was created for us as a gift to help our business survive the COVID-19 pandemic. As a way of paying this kindness forward, 20% of the proceeds ($50) will go to the CommUnity Food Bank.
This piece is made from a yellow quartz cabochon and bronze wire. At its longest, this necklace is 21″ and can be adjusted to be shorter. It has a bronze and swivel lobster clasp.
The materials on this piece are really lovely. The curved glass piece is hollow Murano glass, the center pendant and the back toggle clasp are full of Swarovski crystals, and the multi-strand part of the necklace are fresh water pearls. This piece sits at 20″. Designed and made by Karen Kubby.
