Gyrls Night Out: Exploring Resin

This pendant will incorporate a found object, that participants will bring, into a resin pendant. Learn how to mix and apply clear resin in a pendant. Objects should be no larger than ½” x 1 ½” and be flat. Paper items can be cut to fit. Flat bugs and wings are great for this project.

Use Delica beads to make 6 diamonds sewn together. 3 for the top and 3 for the bottom. Insert a bell and sew your halves together. This is a great project to hone your patterned brick stitch skills.

Prerequisites: Cubed Right-Angle Weave skills
Use Cubed Right Angle Weave (CRAW) and Toho seed beads to create a curved armature as the base of the pendant. Then embellish with layers of Swarovski crystals. This project can easily be made bigger for a larger pendant and done twice to create a pair of earrings.

Participants will learn to weave three stands of copper wire together, bending them into shape and anchoring the ends. A simple bail will also be created bending wire. Variations to this pendant and ways to approach different shapes will be discussed. Just in time for Valentine’s Day.
This class serves as a great intro to this technique for other wire weaving classes by Zanetta, including Prong Set Pendant on Sun., March 20.
