Use your soldering skills to make a bezel around a stone cabochon. Participants will make a simple pendant as a vehicle for learning metal bezeling skills. Students will be using a butane torch, so please wear natural fiber clothing.

Use two-holed pyramid and super duos along with round seed beads to construct an elegant cocktail ring. This ring is built to suit, so if you are making this for someone else, be sure to bring their ring size. Many beaded rings are made with elastic–this ring is not.

Prerequisites: No experience necessary.
Use copper wire to learn to close two ends of a flat weave into a cylinder to form an open pod. Add crystals to the center of the pod, to finish one end with a loop and add an additional crystal, and to finish the other end with a bail so you can hang it from your favorite chain. This project lends itself to using birthstone colors and celebrating family.

Using two sizes of Toho round beads and Cubed Right Angle weave to make a curved piece. Connect it into a circle. Embellish the circle on the bottom with more CRAW units and the sides with stitchin’ in the ditch. This is a fun way to use your CRAW skills.

Brick stitch is an off-loom seed bead weaving stitch that can be made into endless patterns. In this class, use Delica beads in brick stitch to create an owl motif. Then glue it onto a bookmark. A perfect combination for beading in the City of Literature. These owls make awesome earrings, too.

Students will learn or review spiral herringbone and make a lariat. A slide to connect two sides of the lariat will be made with Delicas with peyote stitch. The slide has to be just the right tension around the lariat—not too loose or it will slip, and not too tight or it won’t slide.
