In this pattern by Carolyn Cave, use diagonal Cellini peyote stitch to create this fun mermaid’s tail pendant. The top bail is a new product out on the market built for use with seed bead weaving. Both the pendant and lariat will be made in class.

Learn to use two thicknesses of wire to weave this sunburst pattern with a bead in the middle. You will remove some wire to get your shape. Make a fancy woven bail to complete this project.

In this third class of our Pride Month celebration, create a beaded portrait of Marsha P. Johnson, an American gay liberation activist and self-identified drag queen. Known as an outspoken advocate for gay rights, Johnson was one of the prominent figures in the Stonewall uprising of 1969. Learn to follow a 2-drop peyote pattern and see this activist come to life. Look for more portrait classes in 2023.

This is the second of three Pride Month classes. You will learn to use seed beads to create ladder stitch and chevron stitch to make a quick and simple bracelet that has high impact. You will use one color of larger beads for the base and then embellish it with slightly smaller beads in rainbow colors. The “V” shape is stunning.

Reversible Beaded Bead through Kirkwood Community College

Learn to use a CzechMates 2-hole bead shape, the crescent. Weave Czech pressed glass and Toho 11/0 seed beads to create a two-sided domed beaded bead. You will make two separate pieces and then sew them together. Each side can be a different color, making your bead reversible. No experience needed.
Registration is through Kirkwood Community College. Register at:
kirkwood.edu. On site registrations will be taken if registration through Kirkwood meets minimum requirements of two participants.

Learn to use two-hole tile beads and two-hole lentil beads with peyote stitch to make three different components that can be mixed and matched and/or sewn together. These colorful components are fun to make and allow you to design a larger project piece by piece.
