Use your CRAW skills to make a large hole beaded bead. Then transition to even count peyote stitch to make fluted ends on your beaded bead. Embellish your creation with two kinds of beads.

Follow instructions created by Laurel Kubby using a combination of peyote stitch and herringbone to make a beaded triangle with crisp corners. Then make a triangle within the triangle so the two are linked. These beaded earrings have lots of movement and are very light weight.

Design a wrap bracelet using magnetic hematite and a variety of other materials. No clasp needed. Once you set your pattern, repeat it, string it, and wear it. This piece can double as a necklace, name bag holder, or glasses holder.

In coordination with the Iowa Youth Writing Program’s “Bookmarks Challenge”, come to Beadology Iowa to make your own bookmark. These are functional pieces of art and make great gifts. This project is kid-friendly. Make as many as you like. Staff will be on hand to help you design and finish your bookmark. Lots of bead choices will be available. Register in advance and walk-ins welcomed.

New Class! 12-Strand Kumihimo Sampler Necklace

Prerequisites: Any kumihimo experience.
This necklace is an introduction to 12-strand braiding. It is made of 5 different patterns, 2 of them involve the same braid made both clockwise and counterclockwise. One is a rectangular braid. The class will include how to transition from one braid to the next.
Tools needed to bring or purchase include a kumihimo disk or marudai and 12 70 gram weighted tamas or thread lockers. If you already have these tools, please choose the corresponding drop down choice.

Make a flat peyote band and then zip it up into a tube. Learn to make branched fringe using seed beads, magatams, and Czech pressed glass beads to form a graduated and fluid design. You can then decide if you bead a lariat or put the slide onto a scarf, leather, chain, or anything that will fit into your tube.
