Updated Class! Fundamentals of Metal Working

In this metalworking class, learn the fundamentals of metalworking: sawing, filing, drilling, riveting, and stamping. Then design your pendant and put your newfound or refreshed skills to work.
This class serves as a prerequisite for many classes in our metalworking series. No soldering involved in this project.

Steampunk Chain Necklace

Prerequisites: No experience needed.
In this no solder chain making class, use square wire and jewelry making tools to create copper links. There is lots of repetition, so you will build muscle memory and hone your wire working skills. Walk away with a close-up lightweight chain.
Prairie Bracelet through Kirkwood Community College

Use GemDuos, SuperDuos, Czech fire polish, and Toho seed beads to make this lovely bracelet. This a fun and fast project. This pattern makes for a beautiful close-up necklace as well.

Friday Night Out: Make Glass Beads–Intro to Lampworking

Prerequisites: No experience needed.
This class will teach you the art of lampworking, a technique of using a torch and melting glass rods to create various shapes. Safety and appropriate equipment handling are emphasized. Your beads will need to stay in a kiln overnight to be annealed.
NOTE: Participants must be at least 15 years old.
This class serves as a prerequisite for next steps lampworking classes.
New Class! Bee Bead

Prerequisites: Any lampworking experience.
In this “next steps” lampworking class, learn how to make a bead that looks like a giant bee. Skills included are shaping, encasing, pulling, and adding glass. There will be lots of time to experiment with color and technique to build your hive.

Class Cancellation Policy
Class fees are due at time of registration. Cancellations must be made at least 5 days in advance of class in order to receive store credit. There are no cash refunds for cancellations issued by the student.
If Beadology Iowa cancels a class, the student can choose to transfer registration to another class, receive store credit, or receive a cash refund.
With a completed class, participants will receive a single-use card good for double rewards points on an entire purchase within 10 days of the class.
Drop-in Make-n-Take Bracelet

Come in at your leisure with friends and family to learn how to use elastic and beads to make a secure and lovely bracelet. A variety of materials will be on hand for your use. Beadology Iowa staff will be available to assist you in gaining this new-found skill.
$15/bracelet—family friendly.
