Fireline is wonderful for off loom seed bead weaving. It has the strength to handle beading with crystals, 2-hole beads, and rougher edged glass. It can bring stiffness if you are new to beading or bead loosely. It comes in the colors Crystal and Smoke, both of which come in 6lb and 8lb varieties. Each spool is 50 yards.
Make 2 Bracelets: Intro to Stringing through Kirkwood Community College

This class places a focus on professional stringing and design techniques. You will make two bracelets using Czech Republic glass beads and sterling silver. Two different stringing strategies will be taught: nylon finished with bead tips and flexible wire finished with crimp beads. Both bracelets will be secure and beautiful.
Registration is through Kirkwood Community College. Register at: kirkwood and go to Continuing Education and then search for Beadology Iowa under instructor in the advanced search. On site registrations will be taken if registration through Kirkwood meets minimum requirements of two participants.
$30 instructor fee/$35 materials fee.

What better way to celebrate the upcoming Summer Solstice than to make a pendulum? Using stone, chain, and wire, students will create beautiful hanging points. Students will utilize a sampling of important fundamental skills–stringing, crimping, wrapped loops, and wire bails–and learn to use them together to make a swinging pendulum. It can be used for metaphysical practices, play, or simply as a pretty sun catcher. A discussion on how to use them will follow.
