Gyrls Night Out: Flip It! Earrings

Many want to flip the House of Representatives to Democratic Control. We want you to learn to use brick stitch, Toho seed beads, and a rubber ring to make a pair of earrings that use two high contrast colors that are “flipped” on each half of the earring. Herringbone Beaded Collar

Using different sized beads, create a curved collar using herringbone, or Ndebele stitch. These collars can be fun and funky or quite elegant. Participants may opt to bring their own focal piece to add as a pendant to the collar.

Learn herringbone, or Ndeble stitch, a fundamental stitch used in many contemporary bead books and magazine projects. Participants will use Toho seed beads and bugle beads to learn to increase to make their piece wider in the middle and how to decrease to bring the end of their cuff down to the original width near the clasp. The end result is a fun and fast beaded cuff bracelet.

Introduction to Cubed Right Angle Weave–CRAW–through Kirkwood Community College

Cubed Right Angle Weave (CRAW) is a fun and fascinating stitch. It is hard to learn from video or written instructions. In this class, you will learn CRAW techniques with Toho 8/0 beads. This is not a projects class. You will leave with a sample of CRAW. The picture is of a small pendant using CRAW.
Registration is through Kirkwood Community College. Register at:
www.kirkwood.edu and go to Continuing Education and then search for Beadology Iowa under the instructor search. On site registrations will be taken if registration through Kirkwood meets minimum requirements of two participants.

Use two-holed pyramid and super duos along with round seed beads to construct an elegant cocktail ring. This ring is built to suit, so if you are making this for someone else, be sure to bring their ring size. Many beaded rings are made with elastic–this ring is not.
