Prerequisites: No previous experience is necessary.
Dutch spiral is a variation of tubular peyote stitch. Add drops and multiple beads per stitch to add color and texture to create an undulating tube of beads for use as a bracelet or lariat. Embellish with lucite flowers, Czech pressed glass flowers, and/or Swarovski crystals.
Registration is $68 and includes all materials and instruction.
When we have 2 people on the waiting list, we will schedule another session of this class.

Prerequisites: Basic Peyote Skills
Use a combination of peyote stitch and herringbone with Delica 11/0 beads to create a small wing. Sew this wing together and embellish with a larger focal bead. Add an ear wire and you are ready for the weekend. Optional dutch treat snacks and drinks after class in a nearby downtown location.

Use your peyote skills to learn diagonal peyote with Delica seed beads. Embellish your leaf with Toho round seed beads. These leaves are wonderful as a pendant, earrings, or a branch full of them cascading down a lariat. Modifications to make them thinner, wider, and longer will be discussed.

$30 instructor fee/$28 materials fee to be paid before class. Class conducted in room 054 of the Kirkwood Regional Center on the UI Campus at 2301 Oakdale Blvd, in Coralville.
During the COVID-19 recovery period, classes are limited to 6 people on a first come first served basis via paying the registration fee. Masks must be worn during class and participants will be spaced at least 6 feet from each other. Tools will not be shared and will be cleaned after use. Students will learn or review spiral herringbone and make a lariat. A slide to connect two sides of the lariat will be made with Delicas with peyote stitch. The slide has to be just the right tension around the lariat—not too loose or it will slip, and not too tight or it won’t slide.

Put your flat even count peyote stitch skills to the test. Use a background of Delicas and 3 sizes of Toho round seed beads to create a repeating pattern that undulates beautifully. The focus of this class will be about following a pattern and pulling tight to synch down when decreasing. Participants will likely not finish this project and the beaded toggle is not part of the class, although the kit will have enough beads in it to make one.

Peyote stitch is a basic and incredibly versatile seed bead weaving technique. Beading magazines have many projects that utilize peyote stitch. This workshop will share flat and tubular peyote, even count, using Toho and Delica seed beads. Learn when to use each stitch and walk away with samples of each.
This class is a prerequisite for Color Gradient and Raised Triangle Earrings—both scheduled in April.
