Lampwork Headpins through Kirkwood Community College

Prerequisites: Basic lampworking skills--see Make Glass Beads on October 10.
Using silver and copper wire, add Effetre glass to the bottom, and you have a fancy, handmade, glass headpin. Take this technique in whatever direction you please by adding embellishments or encasement.
Registration is through Kirkwood Community College. Register at:
www.kirkwood.edu and go to Continuing Education and then search for Beadology Iowa under the instructor search. On site registrations will be taken if registration through Kirkwood meets minimum requirements of two participants.
$45 instructor fee/$38 materials fee.

Learn 3 different strategies for making glass headpins: beading making strategy, twisted headpins, and using a shaped marver. Glass will be added to copper wire. After class, make a unique piece of jewelry from your new collection of lampwork headpins.

These lampwork headpins were made in the Bead Lab at Beadology Iowa. They are clear, red-brown, and black. The ear wires are niobium, great for those with metal allergies. Made by Karen Kubby.
