Using two sizes of Toho round beads and Cubed Right Angle weave to make a curved piece. Connect it into a circle. Embellish the circle on the bottom with more CRAW units and the sides with stitchin’ in the ditch. This is a fun way to use your CRAW skills.

Brick stitch is an off-loom seed bead weaving stitch that can be made into endless patterns. In this class, use Delica beads in brick stitch to create an owl motif. Then glue it onto a bookmark. A perfect combination for beading in the City of Literature. These owls make awesome earrings, too.

Students will learn or review spiral herringbone and make a lariat. A slide to connect two sides of the lariat will be made with Delicas with peyote stitch. The slide has to be just the right tension around the lariat—not too loose or it will slip, and not too tight or it won’t slide.

Weaving with beads isn’t has complicated as it looks. Peyote stitch is a versatile and often used seed bead weaving technique. Students will make beads by beading a rectangle, embellishing it if you choose, then folding and zipping it closed to make a tight and seamless tube. Samples of finished jewelry using peyote stitch will be available.

Participants are encouraged to bring multi-strand pieces in their collection—those that work and those that don’t—to be incorporated into the conversation.

Make cubed right angle weave (CRAW) frames and learn to connect them with peyote and brick stitch to make a negative space bracelet. Two different embellishment techniques make this a great project for learning how to combine different beading stitches and three bead sizes to create a fun and wearable bracelet. This bracelet can be made into a bangle or attach a clasp.
