This class places a focus on professional stringing and design techniques. You will make two bracelets using Czech Republic glass beads and sterling silver. Two different stringing strategies will be taught: nylon finished with bead tips and flexible wire finished with crimp beads. Both bracelets will be secure and beautiful.

Make Glass Beads: Intro to Lampworking through Kirkwood Community College

This class will teach you the art of lampworking, a technique of using a torch and melting glass rods to create various shapes. Safety and appropriate equipment handling are emphasized. Your beads will need to stay in a kiln overnight to be annealed. No previous experience needed.

This class will hone your wrapped loop skills. Use a spectrum of colors to connect Swarovski crystals to chain to create a set of cascading earrings. Emphasis will be placed on good wire work skills. Design a pendant with something you bring from home—a photograph, image, small item—which you imbed in resin to make a pendant. This item might be a dried flower, a wing, a seed, a charm–it could be anything not more than 1/4″ deep. Some materials will be provided. Learn to mix resin and pour it into a pendant mold. The resin will have to be cured overnight, so participants will have to come back the next day or after to finish their project.

Friday Night Out: Ring Keeper

Using copper wire and small spacer beads, create a “ring keeper.” This piece is a lovely piece of jewelry that doubles as a place to keep a ring safe from gardening, dish washing, or wrestling.
