Flower Power: Glass Flower Disks

Learn to make a disk with layers of colors. Spot heating will allow you to use tools to manipulate the glass into a flower. These beads are great for making pendants and earrings.

Description:

Making glass beads is great fun and an opportunity to do something outside of your normal routine.  You’ll have an unusual response to give when friends ask you what is new in your life.  This class will increase your hand-eye coordination and allow you to make beads that can be used in jewelry making. 

 This class will teach you the art of lampworking, a technique of using a torch and melting glass rods to create various shapes.  Safety and appropriate equipment handling are emphasized.  Your beads will need to stay in a kiln overnight to be annealed. 

NOTE:  Participants must be at least 15 years old.

Intro to Boro Glass Work

Everyone needs a classic string of pearls. In this class, you will learn the secrets of making pearl knotting easy.  Each person will leave with a bracelet made with fresh water pearls and a sterling silver clasp.

Make 3 Pairs of Earrings: Intro to Wirework

Description:

Who doesn’t need a new pair of earrings?  Learn to make earrings for yourself or as gifts.  Two wirework skills will be practiced and used to make three pairs of earrings.  The first skill is making a closed wrapped loop that allows you to make earrings and pendants.  The second skill is making a closed wrapped loop inside of a closed loop, allowing you to attach dangles to chains.  You will make earrings from glass, stone, pearls, and Swarovski crystals.

Solid instruction on the use of jewelry tools will assist you in making three pairs of earrings.  You will receive encouragement in discovering simple yet elegant earring designs.

Note this Bargain: Also sign up for Intro to Stringing on September 19 and get double rewards points.

This class serves as the pre-requisite for Wire Bails class on September 26.



Make 2 Bracelets: Introduction to Stringing

Description:

Bracelets are big this season.  Wearing multiple bracelets at once is even better.  This class places a focus on professional stringing and design techniques.  You will make two bracelets using two different stringing materials. One bracelet will be made strung on nylon using glass beads from the Czech Republic and sterling silver beads.  The second bracelet will be strung on flexible wire and made with handmade glass and Swarovski crystals.  You will learn how to use crimp beads to finish this bracelet.  Both bracelets will be secure and beautiful.

Wire Bail Techniques

Description:
We don't mean hay bales when we are talking wirework and chain. Learn to make bails using a variety of top drilled shapes. Wrapped bails will also be taught. You will get a chance to practice your wrapped loops in this class. Walk away with a small cache of dangles and pendants. This is a techniques, not a project class.

In this class, learn the use of basic metal working tools and some simple and fun techniques for for making "hot" and "cold" connections with metal. You will learn how to use a torch to make simple soldered "joins" and variety of techniques, including riveting, for shaping and connecting pieces of metal.  If you are a person who likes to "learn by doing", then this class is for you!
